DENTURES IN HONDO, TX

Missing teeth make it harder to eat, speak clearly, and smile with confidence. Dentures are custom-made replacement teeth that restore your bite and support your cheeks and lips, so your face keeps its natural shape. At Fiesta Dental, Dr. Dheeraj Kumar Koli, DDS, and our team help patients in Hondo and across Medina County find a comfortable denture solution close to home, without the drive to San Antonio.

Types of Dentures We Offer

Every smile is different, so we match your denture to your mouth, your health, and your budget.

  • Complete (full) dentures replace all of the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. A conventional denture is made after any remaining teeth are removed and the gums have healed.
  • Immediate dentures are placed the same day your teeth are removed, so you never have to go without teeth while your gums heal.
  • Partial dentures fill the gaps when you still have some healthy natural teeth, and they attach securely to the teeth you keep.
  • Implant-retained dentures snap onto dental implants for a secure fit that will not slip when you eat or talk.

What Dentures Are Made Of

Denture teeth are made of acrylic, porcelain, or a combination of both, set in a natural-looking, gum-colored base. An upper denture covers the roof of your mouth, while a lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe to leave room for your tongue. In some cases, a denture can also be made to fit over teeth that have had root canal treatment.

Your Denture Process at Fiesta Dental

Your care starts with an exam and X-rays, so Dr. Koli can check your gums, jawbone, and any remaining teeth. If teeth need to come out, we can take care of tooth extractions right here in our office. Next, we take impressions and measurements of your mouth, check the fit, look, and bite of your new teeth, and make adjustments after you receive your final denture so it feels comfortable.

Relines, Repairs, and Denture Care

Over time, the bone and gums under a denture slowly shrink, especially after teeth are removed. A denture that once fit well can start to feel loose, rub sore spots, or click when you talk. We offer denture relines, soft liners, and rebases and repairs to restore a comfortable fit, plus regular denture exams to check your mouth for changes or disease. Our denture care tips will help your new teeth last as long as possible.

DENTURES FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Dentures in Hondo

Answers from Dr. Koli and the Fiesta Dental team
How long do dentures last?

With good care, dentures can last for several years. Your gums and jawbone slowly change shape over time, so most dentures need a reline now and then to keep a snug fit, and eventually a replacement. Dr. Koli checks the fit of your denture and the health of your mouth at your regular visits.

How long does it take to get used to new dentures?

Most people adjust to new dentures within a few weeks. At first, it is normal to notice extra saliva, mild soreness, or small changes in your speech. If a spot keeps rubbing or feels sore, call our Hondo office so we can adjust your denture instead of letting the irritation continue.

Can I eat normally with dentures?

Yes, with a little practice. Start with soft foods cut into small pieces and chew slowly on both sides of your mouth. As you get comfortable, you can add more foods back into your diet. Implant-retained dentures are more stable and make chewing firmer foods easier.

What is the difference between immediate and conventional dentures?

An immediate denture is placed the same day your teeth are removed, so you are never without teeth. Because your gums change shape as they heal, an immediate denture usually needs relines or adjustments in the following months. A conventional denture is made after your gums have fully healed, which typically gives a more precise long-term fit.

Are implant-retained dentures better than regular dentures?

Implant-retained dentures snap onto dental implants, so they stay firmly in place and help preserve the jawbone. Regular dentures cost less up front and work well for many patients. The right choice depends on your bone health, your goals, and your budget. Dr. Koli will walk you through both options during your consultation.

My denture is loose, cracked, or broken. What should I do?

Do not try to glue or file the denture at home, because household glue can damage it and irritate your gums. Keep any broken pieces and call our Hondo office at (830) 581-2621. A loose denture can often be fixed with a reline, and many cracks and broken teeth can be repaired without making a whole new denture.

Does insurance or Medicaid cover dentures?

Fiesta Dental accepts Texas Medicaid, CHIP, and most PPO dental plans. Denture coverage depends on your specific plan, so our team will check your benefits and explain any out-of-pocket costs before treatment begins. If you do not have insurance, ask us about payment options.
